The markets, judged one by one
The honest small door of the futures world — with the largest unit risk on this site.

The computed numbers for this door
The base unit: one micro E-mini S&P contract (MES, $5 per point) with an 8-point stop — a normal intraday move — risks $40 per trade. Commissions, exchange fees and one tick of slippage come to about $3 per round trip.
Risk term: $40.00 × 100 = $4,000. Cost term: about $60 a month in trading costs at beginner frequency (20 trades), which needs $3,000 of capital to stay under 2% a month. Minimum viable capital: $4,000. Survival floor: $1,000 — below it, one normal trade risks more than 4% of the account.
Futures are marketed to small accounts on margin: many brokers let one MES contract be held intraday for roughly $1,000 of margin or less. Margin is what you may post, not what a normal losing streak costs.
The trap is the margin illusion. Futures have no PDT rule and never did, and brokers compete on how little margin they require — so a beginner can hold real exposure on a few hundred dollars of posted margin and meet the market's normal morning move as a margin call. The exchange clears your trade; nobody clears your sizing. The second trap is the roll and the clock: contracts expire, sessions have liquidity cliffs, and a micro position held into the wrong hour trades a different market than the one in the tutorial.
Run the checker, then demo the exact contract at one lot with an 8-point stop and record what a normal losing week costs. If that number frightens you at demo size, it was the right number to learn for free.

The verdict gives you the arithmetic for your market and your capital. The Start-or-Wait Kit gives you the complete workbook: the demo-record audit (the 50-trade review grid), the staged capital plan up to your market's minimum viable capital, the 90-day learning plan week by week, and the real-cost tracker — the spreadsheet experienced traders build by hand, ready to fill in.
